This privacy policy has been compiled to better serve those who are concerned with how their 'Personally Identifiable Information' (PII) is being used online. PII is information that can be used on its own or with other information to identify, contact, or locate a single person, or to identify an individual in context.

When purchasing, registering, or bidding on our site, you may be asked to enter your name, email address, mailing address, phone number, credit card information, or other details. For real estate transactions, we may collect additional information required by law to facilitate the sale.

Register on our site or create a bidding account.
Place a bid in an auction.
Sign up for our newsletter or SMS alerts.

Note: All payment transactions are processed through a gateway provider (PayPal/Stripe) and are not stored or processed on our servers.

If you opt-in to receive SMS notifications or auction alerts from Coastal Real Estate and Auction Group, the following applies:

Consent: By providing your mobile number, you agree to receive automated marketing and informational text messages. Consent is not a condition of purchase.
Sharing: No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All other categories exclude text messaging originator data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
Opt-Out: You can opt-out at any time by replying STOP to any message. Message and data rates may apply.

6. Data Retention (Auction & Real Estate Records)

We retain personal data only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected.

General Data: Most user data is kept while your account is active.
Auction Records: For legal and audit purposes, bidding history and transaction records are retained for a minimum of 7 years (or as required by Virginia state law for real estate and auction transactions), even if an account is closed.

7. Third-party Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your PII to outside parties unless we provide advance notice. This does not include website hosting partners and professional service providers (like escrow or title companies) who assist us in conducting our business, so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential.

8. Your Rights (Virginia & California Residents)

Under the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act (VCDPA) and CalOPPA, you have the following rights regarding your data:

Right to Access: You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Right to Correct: You can request that we fix inaccurate or incomplete information.
Right to Delete: You may request that we delete your personal data (subject to legal retention requirements for auction records).
Right to Opt-Out: You have the right to opt-out of the "sale" of your data or targeted advertising. Coastal Real Estate and Auction Group does not sell your personal data.

9. Behavioral Re-marketing

We use remarketing services (Google Ads and Facebook) to advertise on third-party websites to you after you visited our site. You can opt-out via your browser’s "Do Not Track" settings or directly through Google/Facebook ad preferences.

10. COPPA (Children Online Privacy Protection Act)

We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of 18. If we become aware that we have collected PII from a minor, we will delete it immediately.

11. CAN-SPAM Act

We agree to:

Not use false or misleading subjects or email addresses.
Include the physical address of our business.
Honor opt-out/unsubscribe requests quickly via the link at the bottom of each email.
